Rugby Union: Gregan Off to France
George Gregan, the Australian captain, has signed a six-month contract to play for the French second division club Toulouse after the World Cup.
Toulon yesterday signed the Australia captain, George Gregan, on a six-month contract worth more than £250,000 and the French second division club are in negotiations with the New Zealand forwards Anton Oliver and Chris Jack. Gregan, who has won a world record 127 caps, will join Toulon in November after the World Cup, while Oliver will decide within the next month whether to join him. The chances of the Bath No8 Gareth Delve appearing in the World Cup for Wales are in the balance after he yesterday discovered he needs surgery on a knee ligament injury while the Ospreys centre Gavin Henson is out for another three weeks following minor knee surgery. The England outside-half Jonny Wilkinson will return from a hamstring injury for Newcastle at Gloucester tomorrow.
