Snooker: Teenager Trump Books Crucible Place
Judd Trump has become the youngest qualifier for the World Championships in 14 years after beating James Wattana 10-5.
Judd Trump defeated Thailand's James Wattana 10-5 at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield last night to become the youngest Crucible qualifier for 14 years.
Trump, who enjoyed a fine junior career before turning professional in 2005, will join Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O'Sullivan as the only 17-year-olds to have featured in the final stages of the World Championship when the televised phase begins next month.
He compiled highest breaks of 101 and 77 and held a 9-1 advantage before Wattana, a Crucible semi-finalist in 1993 and 1997, won four successive frames. "I'm just delighted to be going to the Crucible. It's what you dream about," said the Bristol teenager.
