Snooker: Robertson Rises to No7 After Thrilling Defeat of Higginson
Australian Neil Robertson has risen to a career-high world ranking following his victory at the Welsh Open.
Neil Robertson's dramatic 9-8 victory over Andrew Higginson to win the Welsh Open after his 6-2 lead had become an 8-6 deficit takes the 25-year-old Australian to a career-high seventh in the provisional world rankings.
These are assessed on last season's six ranking events and the first five of the current campaign, with only the China Open and the World Championship to come before the list receives its annual official revision.
Higginson, facing relegation from the tour for the third time a month ago, rises to 40th and says he is "determined not to be a one-hit wonder". His next engagement is at World Championship qualifying at Prestatyn, next Monday.
