London 2012: Jowell and Cameron Set for Talks to Ease Olympic Row

Olympic Games: Tessa Jowell hopes a one-to-one meeting with David Cameron will restore cross-party support for the Olympics.
Tessa Jowell, the culture secretary, is to have a one-to-one meeting with David Cameron, the Conservatives leader, in an attempt to re-establish cross-party support for the London 2012 Olympics.

The move follows a souring of relations between the two main parties over the uncertainty surrounding the budget for the Games. The Conservatives have accused the government of mishandling the finances, while Jowell has claimed the opposition is "playing party politics" with the Games.

The government has come under fire since admitting that the cost of building the Olympic Park had risen by nearly £1bn to £3.3bn - and that further increases were inevitable.
