So try to get this out of your head for the rest of the day. "This could be Rotterdam or anywhere, Liverpool or Rome, cause Rotterdam is anywhere, anywhere alone. Anywhere alone." The Beautiful South have put out a statement saying they are splitting up due to "musical similarities". It adds: "The band would like to thank everyone for their wonderful 19 years in music." The band was set up in the late 1980s by former Housemartins Paul Heaton and Dave Hemingway. It has featured three female vocalists, Briana Corrigan
Jacqui Abbott and Alison Wheeler. Their last single, The Rose of My Cologne, was released last year. It reached 99.
Are you eating at the moment? One hopes the meat is from an ethical source - as in scraped from a road. People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals yesterday gave its first ethical cuisine award to Fergus Drennan, presenter of the BBC3 show The Roadkill Chef. Poorva Joshipura, director of Peta Europe, said: "Some people may think the idea of eating roadkill is gross, but it's not any more disgusting than consuming the decaying flesh of factory-farmed animals who spent their short lives mired in their own waste and whose flesh could be riddled with deadly bacteria." Well, quite. So badger crostinis at the next Peta meeting then.
Not since David Bowie and Bing Crosby performed Little Drummer Boy has there been so much breath-stopping excitement over a musical collaboration. Yes, Cheryl Cole
Sarah Harding
Nicola Roberts
Nadine Coyle and Kimberley Walsh from Girls Aloud have recorded a song with Keisha Buchanan
Heidi Range and Amelle Berrabah from Sugababes. There are no reported injuries and the song itself, a version of Walk This Way, will be released on March 12, the official Red Nose Day 2007 single.
If you have not seen Martin Scorsese's The Departed then please do not read this. If you have then you will remember that pretty well all the main characters get killed, from Martin Sheen getting thrown to his death from a window to Jack Nicholson to Leonadro DiCaprio to Ray Winstone to Matt Damon. Pretty much the only characters left are Mark Wahlberg
Alec Baldwin and the rat which mysteriously scuttles across a windowsill in the closing shot. So eyebrows are being raised at news that a sequel is being planned. Wahlberg has let slip that Robert de Niro might be brought in, while the Los Angeles Times says producers have ruled out a prequel.
