Athletics: Thanou Tested Again

Ekaterina Thanou has been tested by World Anti-Doping officials less than a day after her two-year drugs ban ended.
Officials from the World Anti-Doping Agency visited Greece's Ekaterina Thanou at her training camp in South Africa yesterday less than a day after the end of her two-year ban.

She was banned for avoiding a series of dope tests that led to her missing the 2004 Olympics in Athens, along with Kostas Kederis, who had been due to light the flame at the opening ceremony. Thanou, the 2000 Olympic 100 metres silver medallist behind Marion Jones, had already been tested three times since October to satisfy international requirements allowing her to return to competition.

She plans to compete in the winter season, including the European indoor championships in Birmingham in March, but has scrapped plans to relocate to Britain due to problems finding a club that would let her join.
