Gymnastics: Tweddle Wins World Cup Final
Beth Tweddle's remarkable year continued as the British gymnast won the uneven bars discipline at the World Cup in Sao Paulo.
Beth Tweddle crowned an excellent year by winning the uneven bars event at the World Cup final in Sao Paulo on Saturday.
The 21-year-old from Liverpool became Britain's first ever world champion in Denmark in October and also triumphed at the European Championships. This event ranks only behind the Olympics and World Championships.
Gymnasts earned points over the past two years, with the top eight in each event reaching the final. Tweddle scored 16.300 to edge China's Li Ya (16.225) and Ukraine's Dariya Zgoba (15.150). It capped a good week for Tweddle, which had started when she came third in the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.
