The 12 day grapefruit diet is an extremely popular fad diet. It has been around for many years and there are many variations. The grapefruit diet lasts 12 days and can be continued but only if 2 consecutive days are taken off.
Pros:
Unlimited coffee allowed
IF you can stick to it, results appear to promising and you don't gain too much back. Allowed to eat generous portions of meat.
Cons
Very hard to follow due to low calorie intake
May cause dizziness or upset stomach
Many report gaining portions of the weight back after 12 day period
Grapefruit is said to have fat burning properties when eaten throughout the day in certain quantities. Although there is no scientific proof or evidence of the validity of the 12 day grapefruit diet many who have completed the diet swear by it.
There are a few interesting things about this diet that make it a little easier to follow than other stringent fad diets. You are allowed to eat until full at any meal, you MUST eat the bacon and meats as per the instructions and you can fry your food in butter or use as much butter as you like for vegetables.

Lunch

Rapid weight loss is to be expected on the 12 day grapefruit diet. Any diet that restricts calories this severely is bound to result in weight loss. It should be noted that this should NOT be used as a long term diet strategy.
