11th Hour - Chapter 5

The 5th Chapter of the 11th Hour Series...
"Shit!" Matt mumbled under his breath. He had completely forgotten about The Crazies and as he looked around they were coming out of everywhere. He told his wife that that she needed to follow him and do what he did. Leona acted like she had no clue what had happened or where she was. Leona was completely lost in her own little world. They ran down the dark alley to the left, going up and down then left and right trying to find a window or open door they could use to get inside one of the debris ridden buildings.

"Nathen, Over Here NATHEN!" Leona screamed. Matt looked at his wife in awe "Shut your mouth, your going to let those psychos know someone’s over here." Matt said whispering to his wife. "But, but Nathen is right over there I can see him." Leona said quietly. Matt just didn’t know what was coming over his wife; maybe seeing her sons’ dead body had traumatized her, but whatever it was Matt knew he had to get her inside. Finally Matt found a place for them to stay. It was a three story building, it may have once had eight floors on it but the other five had fallen around it. They crawled their way through the rubble around the building and worked up toward the second floor. Matt and Leona finally got there and had a chance to lie down. "Ok Leona, you go and get some rest and I will keep a look out incase anyone come up."

"You Bastard, Its all Your FALT!" Leona screamed at Matt. He had fallen asleep holding a piece of metal he found lying on the ground. Sometime during the night he obviously fell asleep, but he woke up just in time to grab Leona’s arm and throw her off him. "What the hell do you think you’re doing Leona?" Matt said hysterically. She had lost her mind; between seeing her son dead and being tortured half to death she had lost her mind. Then she ran toward him again, but this time Matt just jumped out of the way falling on a piece of glass that went into his left hand almost taking off his ring finger which held his wedding ring. When Matt jumped out of the way Leona fell out of the second floor window, pieces of glass went into her entire body, and her when her head smashed against it made a sound that was like a tennis ball hitting a tennis racket. Then her head split open and blood covered the street. Matt walked up to the window and as soon as he did he jumped back, not because he saw his wife’s brain plastered all over the street below, but because when he looked down their The Crazies were already at her body. They had torn open the middle of her face where she had hit the street; it was right around the top of your eye meets your forehead. One of The Crazies had taken her eye out and stuck it in his front pocket while the others ripped parts of her body off. The ones who got to the brain started digging in right away, when they did this it made a sound of stirring up macaroni and cheese. Matt went to sleep later that night scared and hoping no one would find him up there.

For that whole next day Matt slowly made his way to his Relatives house. He walked 18 blocks to get to his aunt and uncles home, he never ran into any trouble. Just walked through the debris ridden, building demolished streets. When he finally got to the house he was surprised by what he saw. His uncles home was between 2 medium sized apartment buildings while his was a small one and besides the roof being caved in, the house was completely ok. He slowly walked up to the door, when he got there before he could even knock a fat man with a long grimy beard came out with a shotgun. He was tall and looked a lot like a large lumberjack. "Who the hell are you, I don’t care who you are get the F*ck in my house!" the large man said to Matt. "Uncle Jeff, is that you?" matt said questionably. The tall man walked into the kitchen, there was a loud chopping noise coming from in there. The tall man threw something to Matt, the object was hairy and felt wet, and then he noticed a smell it was the smell of rotting flesh, or dead animal. "Oh, excuse me, I forgot to turn on the light for you." The tall man said then hit the lamp switch beside Matt. He looked down and saw two eyes staring back into his own, it was only till he noticed that it was a head that he knew whose head it was, and it was the head of his Uncle Jeff. Matt went to leave hoping the tall man wouldn’t notice. "And just where do you think your going" then Matt heard the sound of the shotgun being cocked. "Go sit down, my name is Paul." Then he held out his hand, "My name is Matt." And Matt shook Paul’s hand, afraid that if he didn’t Paul would kill him right then and there like he did with his uncle.
