11th Hour - Chapter 2

The 2nd Chapter of the 11th Hour Series...
"Hey, we’re running out of food down here…we need to go to the surface." Leona said crying. "I know, but I’m afraid that the war may not be over." Little did Matt known there wasn’t a war. Terrorists had been building bombs and they had made around 5 big ones. They weren’t nuclear; they just left cities in ruins. The one that hit New York City didn’t actually hit New York City. It had gone into the ocean, but the blast did destroy a lot of New York. There were 5 major cities that this happened to; New York City, London, Tokyo, Moscow, and Los Angles. The President of the United States was in Los Angels at the time of the blast, he is now dead.

While they were down there they had nothing to do. Matt was afraid his wife was losing her mind because she was afraid of small spaces. Nathen had just been sleeping everyday for the past month, and now they were running out of food. Matt went to the opening of the fallout shelter; there was a big ladder that went from the top to the bottom of it. This made the ladder close to 30 feet tall. He slowly climb the ladder, he didn’t know what he would find at the top. A bunch of people who were dressed in sand camouflage with AK47’s, the united states government wanting him and his family to come with them away from this place, or worse of all, Matt gets to the top and goes to push on the hatch and it wont open. Maybe his house fell over and the olive green shutters are at the bottom of the ruble lying on the hatch. Matt got to the top, sweat dripping from his nose; he knew what ever happened he had to get his family out of there. He slowly pushed at the top of the hatch, it wouldn’t open. He screamed at the hatch and started to cry. They were all going to die in the bomb shelter they built to keep them from dying. There was one thing that would keep them alive, eating each other. "Matt is everything ok?" his wife yelled from the kitchen of the shelter. "No, I’m afraid we aren’t going to make it out of here" Matt said half crying. His wife came around to the room with the ladder, she looked up "which side did you push on?" he looked and noticed that he was so nervous and so sweaty that he pushed on the wrong side f the hatch door. Matt pushed up on the other side and the door opened. He got more nervous than ever right then, and opened the hatch. There was a strong breeze of air that almost knocked Matt off the ladder and this breeze was hot. He walked into his house; most of the pictures that had once been on the wall were off and dusty. His favorite picture, one with him his son and his wife all hugging each other, was on the ground with the glass frame broken. He slowly walked out on his porch, the Chevy’s that were once there were now completely on the ground and very rusty. There cab of the one Chevy wasn’t there anymore, just a slab of rust. The sky had turned a greenish blue color; it was very strange to everyone that had seen it. Then he noticed a military hummer coming there way it had the gunner on the machine gun on the top, but there was one difference, the man on the gun was wearing nothing but orange. He called his wife and Nathen up, and when they got there the military hummer was very close to them, it was at where the Chevy’s were. The man aimed the heavy machine gun right in there direction and started to shoot at him. "MATT!!!" Leona screamed, Matt looked behind him at his wife, she had been shot in the leg, and the blood squirted out like a balloon with a small hole in it. His son had a streak of blood across his face, this was from his mother. "NO, don’t shoot, just stop please, we will listen w…we will do anything you ask." Matt said begging to the men in the hummer. "Ha I like he sound of that" the man said sitting in the drivers seat of the hummer. All the men were bald, and each other them had a thin goatee. The one on the gun was the shortest; he was almost as tall as Matt’s wife. The driver was a tall big man, and the passenger was the same weight and height as Matt.

"Get the F*ck in my car, you and your family" the big man in the drivers seat said, "b…but my wife she’s hurt can I jus" Matt said quietly "NOW!" the man screamed interrupting Matt. They all got in the hummer with the criminals and drove off, the way toward the broken skyscraper horizon known as, New York City.
