Henry: I Don't Want the Pressure of Management
Soccer: Thierry Henry has ruled out moving into management when he retires because of the pressure the job entails.
Thierry Henry has ruled out moving into management when he retires. 'I will always stay around football because that's my life in a way. But I don't know if I would like to be under that kind of pressure after I finish playing.
'When you are a boss, you are under even more pressure because you have five bad games and you are out. When you are a player, you have five bad games and you are still in the team.'
The Arsenal captain also admitted he is preoccupied by his team's failure to beat Barcelona to the Champions League title last May. 'That will always stay in my mind because I've never won it. But sometimes it's not bad to remember the bad moments.'
Leeds could face disciplinary action from the FA after admitting they broke Football League rules by fielding six loan players at Burnley in November. Graham Stack, Matt Heath, Ugo Ehiogu, Tresor Kandol and Geoff Horsfield all played as Leeds lost 2-1, while Tony Warner was an unused substitute. League rules say the maximum number of loanees in a match-day squad is five. 'We will cooperate fully on this matter,' say Leeds, 'and explain the extenuating circumstances.'
Robbie Savage has been branded 'an idiot' by Birmingham captain Damien Johnson over remarks he made about his former club. Johnson was incensed when Savage claimed 'a part of me was glad' when the club were relegated last May, and by Savage's claim that he joined Blackburn because of Mark Bowen's coaching ability - an apparent slight on Birmingham's first-team coach Eric Black.
'I saw what Sav said on television and there was no need for him to stir things up like he did,' Johnson told the Birmingham Mail. 'People say Sav is Sav, but he's just an idiot. I was getting so angry that I felt like driving down to the studio myself. For the record, Eric Black is as good a signing as the gaffer has ever made. It's about time someone spoke up for him because of this kind of rubbish.'
Crystal Palace goalkeeper Gabor Kiraly will pay for his recent falling-out with manager Peter Taylor by being offloaded next month. 'Comments attributed to Kiraly were derogatory and the fact we got a loan keeper [Everton's Iain Turner] tells you something,' said Palace chairman Simon Jordan. 'We brought a keeper in to replace the others.'
Hungary observed a day of mourning yesterday to mark the funeral of former national captain and Real Madrid legend Ferenc Puskas and a memorial service was held in the national stadium that was renamed after the 79-year-old, who died last month of Alzheimer's disease.
