Modern Pentathlon: Britain Claim Team Silver
Modern pentathlon: Britain finished behind Poland to claim team silver at the World Modern Pentathlon Championships.
Britain's team of Georgina Harland, Mhairi Spence and Katy Livingstone won a silver medal at the World Modern Pentathlon Championships in Guatemala City yesterday.
Harland, the Olympic bronze medallist in Athens in 2004, scorched through the field in the cross country climbing 16 places to finish seventh overall. With Spence and Livingstone finishing 12th and 18th respectively that was enough for them to finish second behind Poland.
Hungary took the bronze medal. "We came here to win a team medal and we've done that," said Harland. "We're a new team and so gold in the Europeans and silver in the World Championships is a first great year together."
