Dowie Leaves the Valley
Soccer: Charlton have parted company with manager Iain Dowie after his first 12 Premiership matches in charge left the club bottom of the table.
Charlton tonight announced they have parted company with manager Iain Dowie.
Dowie only took over from Alan Curbishley at the Valley in May but has won just two Premiership games out of 12 this season, leaving the club bottom of the table.
The former Crystal Palace boss did lead the Addicks to the Carling Cup quarter-finals this week but it wasn't enough to save his job after Saturday's league defeat at Wigan.
Charlton made the announcement on their official website this evening, issuing a short statement which read: "The Addicks announced on Monday night that head coach Iain Dowie had left Charlton.
"The club will issue a further statement on Tuesday morning."
