Snooker: Hendry Tables Objection
Royal London Grand Prix: After beating Mark Selby and losing to Andy Hicks, Stephen Hendry had a pop at the excessively springy tables.
Stephen Hendry was prepared to put a positive spin on the format of eight six-man groups playing best-of-fives, but he did not extend similar indulgence towards the playing conditions at the Royal London Watches Grand Prix in Aberdeen.
With two to qualify from each group for the 16-man knockout stages which start on Wednesday, Hendry began with a 3-2 win over Mark Selby before losing 3-2 to Andy Hicks. The main complaint about the tables is excessively springy cushions.
"I'll probably get disciplined for this," said Hendry, mindful of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association's disciplinary rules, "but this was the worst table I've ever played on."
