Formula One: Schumacher Retires As Alonso Retains His Title

Fernando Alonso today became the eighth driver to retain the formula one world championship after finishing second at the Brazilian grand prix.

The 25-year-old Spaniard succeeds title rival Michael Schumacher as the sport's youngest ever double world champion, as well as joining an elite group of back-to-back winners which includes the German.

Today's race was won by Schumacher's Ferrari team-mate Felipe Massa, with the seven-time champion finishing fourth in the final race of his career after starting 10th on the grid.
