London 2012: Emirates Team to Build Olympic Stadium
Olympic Games: The builders of Arsenal's Emirates stadium have been awarded the contract to design and construct London's 80,000 capacity Olympic stadium
The group that built Arsenal's Emirates Stadium was selected yesterday to design and build the 80,000-seat stadium for the London 2012 Olympics. The Team McAlpine consortium was selected by the Olympic Delivery Authority because it submitted the only bid that met all the qualifying criteria. The group includes the architecture team HOK Sport, also involved in designing Wembley and Ascot. Design plans for the Olympic stadium, expected to cost £350m, will be unveiled next year.
