Amber's POV

Today has finally come. Homecoming.

Wow. I can't believe today's the day. My first homecoming dance. My first high school dance. My first dance without Brandon.

"Good morning sleepyhead," says Sharon who walks in to my room. "Today is your big day."
"Gosh sis, you make it sound as if I'm getting married or something," I say with a yawn.
"Well, this is you first high school dance so it is your big day!"
"Ah, okays. You can call it whatever you want."
"Haha, okays. Get up! It's 9:00 am. We have a lot of prepping to do!" Then she left the room.

Guh. Prepping? How long does putting on some make up, curling your hair, and putting on a dress take?

I went out of my bed and brushed my teeth and washed my face. Then all of a sudden my phone rings.

RINNG!
"Hello?" I say.
"Hey! Good morning sleepyhead!" It was Tiffany.
"Wassup Tiff?"
"Just wanted to tell you that Ryan and I have made last minute homecoming plans."
"Well, I can still go with you to the salon and do prepping with you but Ryan and I can't make it to dinner with you and Michael."
"Oh, that's okay."
"Yea sorry! Okays, I gotta go. Love you. Bye!"

And then she hung up.

That was weird. I wonder what she and Ryan have planned that is so last minute.

Michael's POV

So it's currently 10 am on homecoming day. I just got back from a run. What a great way to start this day.

I walk in my house.

"Hi Jackie! Whose a good boy?" I say to my lab, Jackie as I petted her head.

Jackie barked back at me and I fed her some food.

"Ah, darling. You're home," my mom says. It's funny because she and my dad were actually the ones that got home since they went to Europe for the last couple of weeks.

"Hi mom," I say as she kisses me on the forehead. "How was the trip?"

"It was lovely! The place was beautiful and we sealed the deal!" she says.

"What deal?" I asked.

"Well, you're father and I have been talking and we think that...WE SHOULD MOVE TO NEW YORK."

"WHAT?! Are you out of your mind? Did you and dad have too much to drink or something? I'm finally during my life around!"

"Well, we on our trip, we met this Italian designer who needs help in Men's wear. I showed him Uncle Gary's and your cousin's Vincent's tuxedos. The designer LOVED their designs and decided to hire them since the designer wants to open up a franchise in New York but don't' worry, we aren't moving just yet! Just after you graduate! Isn't this exciting?"

"Can't I just stay here? So I can go to Stanford or an UC school or something? I don't want to move to New York." I asked.

"Son, don't be such a baby," my father says. "You've always wanted to explore and experience new things."

"But dad, I just made new friends! And the only good school in New York is like NYU," I say.

"Well that's why we you will be going to Yale or Columbia!" says my dad who annoyingly sounds excited.

"Huh?" I asked.

"That's the deal honey!" my mom says. "We also had a meeting with the administrators of Yale and Columbia and both of them agreed to accept you! Your father and I wanted you to have a say in things so we decided to let you choose which school you want to go too!"

Wow. Are they freaking kidding me?

"But I still have a chance at Stanford or Caltech!" I finally say.

"Sorry son. Unless you want to pay for college, then your mother and I will allow you to stay in California. And Yale and Columbia are higher in rankings than Stanford and Caltech! And don't worry, there will be plenty of young, beautiful, mature women just for you!" my father says. "Your mother and I just want to look after you but at the same time give you some space. Are there any colleges you like in the east coast? We can always try to pull some strings for you.

"Dad. Stop. Okay?" I say. "I gotta go. I need to get Amber's corsage."

"Bye," my mom and my dad say at once.

I grabbed my keys and went out the door. I got to my car and put my key in the ignition and pulled out of my driveway. I turned on the radio and turned up the volume. California Gurls by Katy Perry blasts through my speakers.

"California Girls we are unforgettable. Daisy dukes bikinis on top."

The song immediately loosens up my tensions I felt when I talked to my parents.

"Sun-kissed skin, so hot we'll melt your Popsicle. Ooooooh Ooooooh"

The song starts to end and then Airplanes by B.O.B comes up.

"Can we pretend that airplanes, in the night skies, are shooting stars? I could really use a wish right now wish right now wish right now."

Damn. If only I could make a wish.

Coincidentally, the clock 11:11 am.

Amber has once told me about the 11:11 myth. If you make a wish at 11:11, your wish will come true. She says that the myth is silly but she has faith in it so she wishes every single night. With Brandon.

As I reached a red light, I closed my eyes and made a wish. It wouldn't hurt to make a wish right?

Amber's POV

"So, are you excited for tonight?" asks Tiffany. "It's you first homecoming dance! Can you believe?!"

We are at the local salon getting our hair, make-up, and nails done. Unfortunately we've arrived to the salon a little over an hour ago and yet, we are still waiting for the stylists to do our hair thanks to the 30 minute wait, the 15 minute shampooing and conditioning, and 10 minute blow-dry, and now another 10 minute wait.

"Eh, I'm fine," I told her still thinking about that phone call we had earlier. I tried bringing it up but Tiffany keeps changing the topic. When she changes the topic, you know something is going on.

"I'm sure deep down inside you are excited!" she exclaims. "After all, this will be your first and last homecoming dance!"

"I guess." I say.

Awkward silence.

"Look Tiff, please answer my question," I start to say. "What was that phone call about?"

She let out a sigh. "Just don't worry about it okay? Everything is fine, it's just that Ryan had to make some accommodations and as his date, I have to go along with him," she says. "So yeah. O look the stylists are coming!"

Two stylists walks over and asks how we want our hair to be done. I wanted to do some nice bouncy curls for as Tiffany wants to do a complex updo.

I tried asking her what kind of accommodations Ryan suddenly had while we were getting our hair done but unfortunately she put her earphones in her ear and listened to her Ipod as if she couldn't hear me.

Wow. If she's doing all that she can do avoid my questions then something is definitely up. Something huge.

Michael's POV

I got out of the car and walked to the flower shop to pick up Amber's corsage and my boutonniere which both matches her corsage and her dress color.

As I entered the flower shop, Ryan was walking out. Carry 4 boxes, 2 holding one pink corsage and one gold corsage while the last 2 boxes held boutonnieres that match with the corsages.

He drops the boxes and I help him pick them up.

"Whoa dude," I start to say. "Do you have two dates or is Tiffany just wearing two dresses?"

"Shut up. The gold one is for a friend," he says.

"Hey no worries bro, I was just joking," I say, opening the door for him.

"O, well I gotta get going. Thanks for helping me," he says and walks out the door. Quickly.

What an awkward moment.

I went up to the cashier and picked up the corsage and the boutonniere. I then drove back home and put the corsage and boutonniere in the refrigerator.
I then went to my room and checked my phone for any text messages. I got a text from Amber.

"Hey, change of plans. Ryan and Tiff ditched us since Ryan has to go do something so it will just be you and me. - Amber"

Interesting. Now why would Ryan and Tiffany back out last minute?
