11:11 pm Ch. 13 Pt. 2

The day before homecoming (:
Hey guys! I'm thinking about writing another story... mainly because it's summer and I feel kinda motivated to fully complete one by the end of this summer (unlike this story which took me nearly a year T_T) but please take my poll and tell me what you guys think! Other than that, enjoy! (:

With Love,
Hilly

Amber's Pov

So, tomorrow is homecoming. And to be honest, I don't know how I feel.

Excited? Nervous? Happy? Sad?

I have no idea.

I guess you can say that I am content. But for someone reason I feel something deep down. I just don't know what.

Riingg! It's a text.

Michael: Hey. Wanna go to the park for a walk?

I grabbed my phone and texted back.

"Hey, yea sure :) c u there in 15 mins"

I put on my shoes, grabbed my jacket, and headed out for the door.

The best thing about the weather in Southern California during October at 4 pm is that it's not too hot not too cold so you are able to wear jeans and a tank top without the unbearable heat or chills. Also, there would be a nice breeze to go along with the comforting temperature, making the weather even better.

I passed by Brandon's house. Damn, I haven't heard from him for a while. It seems it was yesterday, when he broke the window of his new house, when he accidentally threw the football at my hit, when we both first met, when we became best friends. And look where we are now. Separated.

It feels like we have been separated for so long. As if there was a broken bridge between us. And what sucks the most is that... he's not here to help repair that bridge.

"Why hello there Amber" It was Brandon's mom, Mrs. Charlton.
"O hi Mrs. Charlton!" I started to say. "How have you been?"
"I've been good Amber, just doing some cleaning and renovations before Brandon comes home."
"O!" I said excitingly, "When is he coming home?"
"Not till December I believe, we are trying to get him home by Thanksgiving though," she says.
"O, I see," I say.
"Won't you come in?" she asks. "I have something I want to show you."
"O, I can't right now actually, I'm actually supposed to meet up with someone."
"O don't worry, it won't be long. This will only take a couple of minutes."

I couldn't argue with Mrs. Charlton any longer so I decided to just give in. I walk in to the Charlton's house. Their house is big but cozy. I turned down the hall. The Charltons have already made a ramp for Brandon go wheel his wheelchair upstairs but it seems like they are currently building an elevator. It also looks like they are changing their huge shoe closet into a powder room. They are also remodeling their living room, moving their casual dining area to their den thus making the living room more spacious.
"Wow..." I start to say. "You guys are doing some heavy remodeling."
"Yes, well Mr. Charlton and I want Brandon to live more comfortably when he comes home," she says with a smile as she opens up a drawer. "Ah! Found it!"

She hands me a football and a picture of me and Brandon when we were little. The photograph was actually taken when we first met.

"Wow," I said. "Thank you. This is very lovely"
"I thought it would be the best for you to keep it. It was actually supposed to be your graduation gift but Brandon told me to give it to you now since we are remodeling and everything," She says with a warm smile.
"Aw, this is sweet," I say. "I'm sorry Mrs. Charlton but I'm running late."
"It's okay, I understand. You teenagers have a lot of plans these days. Take care Amber."

She walked me out the door and I was back on my trail to the park.

As I was walking, I examined the football. Brandon's football wasn't like a regular brown football you would see at the Superbowl or at a football game. His football is actually those kinds you see at Disneyland or from a carnival with a picture of a cartoon character on it. But what makes this football unique is the writing and scribbles on it.

One of the writing was: "August 24, 2001- When we first met and became best friends"

Wow. I can't believe Brandon remembers the exact day we first met. I kept reading the football.

The next writing I saw was: "November 11, 2002- The first day we started wishing at 11:11pm"

I read the rest of the football along the way to the park. When I got to the park I read the most recent of all of Brandon's writing.

"September 15 2009- The day I gave you the necklace"

Reading the football was as if many flashbacks attacked me. Throughout our whole friendship, Brandon has been keeping record of every single detail of our friendship.

"O, hey you finally made it." says a voice.

I turned around. It was Michael.

"Hey," I say with a smile. "Shall we start are walk?"
"Yea. Just let me grab my jacket," he says grabbing his jacket out of his car.

We started our stroll through the park's rose garden.

"So..." I start to say. "Excited for tomorrow?"
"Yea I guess," he says, not looking at me. "What about you?"
"I'm okay I guess. I just never been to a dance that's all."
"O, well I hope this dance will be special," he says awkwardly.

We continued our walk. In complete silence.

"Hey, let's sit down at that bench and just talk," he then says, after a brief moment of silence.

We walk towards a bench. However, something wasn't feeling right.

"So..." he starts to say. "What you got there?"
"O, just a gift from Brandon. That's all," I reply.

He takes a glance at the picture of me and Brandon.

"Wow," he starts to say. "You guys must be super close. Almost like best buds."
"Haha yea," I say trying to sound casual. However, Michael's awkwardness was bothering me deep down inside.

I try to grab his hand but he pulls away.

"Listen..." he then says. "I actually have something to tell you."

Uh oh. This doesn't sound like good news.

"Well, I have been thinking lately," he says. "And I think we should just go to homecoming...as good friends without the kissing and the touching and all that stuff."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Just when I start falling for him, he turns me away.

But luckily, I don't feel sad or anything. I'm actually feeling okay.

"Well?" he says. "Are you okay?"
"Yea." I say with a smile. "I'm fine. I am totally okay with us just being friends."
"Really?" he replies. "You're not mad? I mean I did kind of ruin you best friend's life and I don't want to be known as a heart breaker or a player on top of being a life ruiner. You know what I mean?"
"Hahaha," I say. "Don't worry, my heart is still intact and I don't want to cause anymore drama. What happened between you and Brandon is the past. Now we are just friends. okays?"
"Okays," he says with a smile.

We sat at the bench for a while longer. I put my head on his shoulder at one point and he put his arm around me but it wasn't a romantic gesture. It was a friendly gesture.

As the sun started to set, we decided that it was time for us to head home.

Michael drove me back home. When we got there, I got out of the car.

"Thanks for the ride!" I say to him without giving him a peck on the cheek or a hug.
"No problems!" he says. "I'll see you tomorrow, friendly date"
"Haha," I reply. "See you."

I opened the door, grabbed something to eat, then headed upstairs to my room. A couple of hours later, Sharon comes home and goes up into my room.

"Hey kiddo," she starts to say. "Tomorrow is your big day. Excited?"
"Yea," I say. " I can't wait."

But truthfully, I wasn't sure if I were excited as I should be.
Another story?
Yes please! :)
No thank you :(
