David Millar marked his return from a two-year drug ban by winning the first senior title of his career at the Manchester velodrome.
Continuing his comeback from a two-year drugs ban, David Millar last night took the first British senior national title of his career, winning the 4,000m individual track pursuit championship in a time of 4min 22.32sec on the Manchester velodrome.
Making his debut at the event, and with just two days track training after completing the Tour de France and Vuelta a EspaƱa, Millar qualified second behind Paul Manning then overcame Manning in the final by over three seconds.
"I wanted to race because I only live half an hour away and I train with all these guys," said Millar. He will not be eligible for world or Olympic selection due to his ban, which ended in June.
