Snooker: White's Rally Ends in Vain
Despite winning his first matches in a year, Jimmy White failed to reach the televised stages of the Royal London Grand Prix.
Jimmy White's failure to qualify for the televised phase of the Royal London Grand Prix in Aberdeen on October 21-29 underlines that his mercurial career may be in terminal decline.
Last season the 44-year-old Londoner slid from eighth to 35th in the world rankings and his failure to qualify for the Northern Ireland Trophy in August saw him sink to a provisional 50th.
After a year and a day without winning a match, he won three in his seven-man round robin group at Prestatyn this week but three defeats left him unable to secure one of the two qualifying places available.
Only the top 80 in the end-of-season rankings will remain on the tour as of right.
