Athletics: Cram Out of the Running
Steve Cram became the latest high profile name to rule himself out of the top job at UK Athletics.
UK Athletics' search for a high-profile figure to be its new chair suffered another blow last night when Steve Cram, the former 1500 metres world record holder, ruled himself out.
He had been tipped for the job after Sebastian Coe said he did not have enough time due to his role as the London 2012 chairman. "I'm very flattered to be linked with this position but it's not for me," said Cram.
"I am chairman of the English Institute for Sport and I have a job commentating for the BBC. It would therefore not be appropriate for me to be chairman of UK Athletics."
Jonathan Edwards, the world triple jump record holder, is also understood not to be interested in the post.
