007 Fans Unite for Super Fun in 2009!
Are you like me a long time James Bond fan? If so have I got a treat for you coming in early 2009! Yes, it's called SpyThrillerTV and instead of our original plan to launch a cable channel we are now going to have an Internet based YouTube like site where you will see old spy films and TV shows along with brand new spy thriller originals that might just be produced by YOU!
Well I have an event marketing firm that produced the first ever spy-related fan convention, SpyFest, on the Queen Mary in Long Beach, CA in August 2003. You can Google "SpyFest" to see more or visit our new SpyThrillerWorld blog and Social Networking site.
I had earlier been retained by the creators of DragonCon, North America's largest sci-fi fan convention held in Atlanta each Labor Day weekend, to help build their brand through more media coverage, event marketing and corporate sponsorship marketing. I built there awareness through becoming their Media Director for three years, growing attendance from the low teens to upwards now of 40,000 over 3 days and bringing in several major sponsors like Coke and Subway.
I honestly have to say I knew about NADA about sci-fi except for having attended some of the Star Wars movies. Now I have had the pleasure and thrill of spending good times with actors like Richard Hatch of Battlestar Galactica fame, Lou "The Incredible Hulk" Ferrigno, Julie "Cat Woman" Newmar; etc.
So after the 2002 DragonCon I got this flash about checking to see if anyone had ever created a spy-related convention. Searching the Internet I found no one had done it and that led to the creation of SpyFest 2003 with over 65 fictional and REAL spies for a 2 day event with special stars like George "On His Majesty's Secret Service" Lazenby; Maude "Octopussie" Adams; Robert "I Spy" Culp; David "Kill Bill" Carradine; etc. What a SUPER thrill for a kid that grew up on Ian Fleming's 007 novels and later films! By the way you can learn more by reading the new blog mentioned on the SpyThrillerWorld Social Networking site.
So people have been asking us when we would be doing another SpyFest. Well the wait is over and if you live in the Washington, DC area you are in for a treat in most likely October 2009. You can follow updates at the blog at the Social Networking site.
Further, if you want to join potentially thousands of other spy thriller fans then go to our new SpyThrillerWorld Social Network mentioned below. There you will see photos from the previous SpyFest and soon even videos of interviews from that event.
So what will be be showing at SpyThrillerTV? Here is just one show idea that we have in mind:
Join us for all the thrills in 2009!
